Ontario code requires GFCI protection within 1.5 metres of any water source and tamper-resistant receptacles in all new installations. We ensure every outlet is properly grounded, uses the correct wire gauge, and is installed in an approved box. Where are GFCI outlets required in Ontario?
The Ontario Electrical Safety Code requires GFCI protection for outlets within 1.5 metres of sinks, in bathrooms, outdoors, and in other damp locations. We also recommend them in garages and unfinished basements. Each GFCI outlet installed typically costs $120–$180 including parts.
How much does it cost to replace switches and outlets?
Standard outlet or switch replacement runs $80–$120 each, with volume pricing for whole-home refreshes. Specialty devices — GFCI, USB-C combo outlets, smart dimmers, timers — range $120–$250 installed depending on the device.
Why do my outlets feel warm or make a buzzing sound?
A warm or buzzing outlet usually means a loose connection, a worn receptacle, or an overloaded circuit — all genuine fire risks. Stop using the outlet and have it inspected promptly. We diagnose and repair these same-day across the GTA.
