The Details
Pool electrical is one of the most heavily regulated areas of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. All pool equipment must be on GFCI-protected circuits, and an equipotential bonding grid must connect all metal components within 1.5 metres of the pool. We install proper disconnects within sight of the equipment, run appropriately rated underground cable, and ensure all bonding is complete. Hot tub hookups typically require a dedicated 40A or 50A, 240V GFCI-protected circuit.

Bonding connects all metal within 1.5 metres of the pool — ladder, pump, rails, rebar — into one grid so no voltage difference can exist between them. It's mandatory under the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and the single most important safety system in pool electrical.
Yes. Pool pumps require a dedicated GFCI-protected circuit sized to the motor, with a weatherproof disconnect within sight of the equipment. Heaters, salt systems, and lighting each have their own requirements — we wire complete pool equipment pads to code.
