About lighting & pot lightsService mast repair fixes damaged overhead service masts, weatherheads, attachment points and related service entrance equipment. Call City Power after storm damage, exterior renovations, roof work or an insurance notice flags the electrical service.

Service mast repair is not just straightening a pipe. The overhead service is the point where utility conductors, the mast, the weatherhead, the attachment hardware, the meter area and the main panel all work together. If one part has been pulled, twisted or water-damaged, the force often travels farther than it first appears.
City Power Electrical Services inspects the visible overhead service mast, the weatherhead, the service attachment point, the roof or wall penetration, the meter area and the conductors entering the building. Where damage may have reached the main service equipment, we open and inspect the panel area as well, then explain what needs repair and what can remain.
Common mast and service entrance work includes:
The key is separation of responsibility. Some equipment is utility-owned and some is customer-owned. We identify the boundary, coordinate with Toronto Hydro, Alectra, Hydro One or the local utility where needed, and keep the repair within Ontario Electrical Safety Code requirements.
If the damage includes the meter enclosure, we may recommend dedicated meter base repair. If the mast damage reveals an overloaded, corroded or outdated service, we may also discuss panel upgrades rather than putting a new mast on a failing service entrance.
Call for service mast repair when anything about the overhead electrical service looks different after wind, ice, tree contact, roofing, siding, soffit work or exterior renovations. A small change at the mast can mean the conductors are under tension, the weatherhead is no longer shedding water correctly, or the attachment point has loosened from brick, framing or fascia.
Warning signs include:
Do not touch the mast, service wires or any conductor near the house. Even if the power appears to be off, the overhead service can still be dangerous. If wires are down, arcing, smoking or pulled low enough to contact people, vehicles or metal objects, treat it as an emergency and call the utility first. For electrical response on the customer side, use our emergency electrician service.
Service mast damage is also common during renovations. New siding, soffit, fascia, roofing or an exterior addition can disturb the mast support, flashing or clearances. If a contractor has removed support around the service, stop work and have the service entrance reviewed before covering it back up.
Service mast repair often requires an ESA notification because it affects the service entrance. City Power is a Licensed Electrical Contractor, ECRA/ESA #7015314, and we arrange ESA notification and inspection where required. We do not treat service entrance repairs as cosmetic work.
Where the mast or weatherhead cannot be repaired safely while energized, the utility must disconnect power before work begins and reconnect after the repair passes the required steps. The exact sequence depends on the utility, the condition of the service and whether the repair involves the meter base, service conductors, grounding, panel or service size.
The ESA inspection may look at:
If you are being asked for documentation after an insurance, real estate or utility concern, we can explain whether the situation calls for repair documentation, an ESA inspection record or a more formal ESA electrical safety certificate. The right document depends on the reason for the request and the scope of work performed.
A damaged mast is also a good time to ask whether the service capacity still fits the house. EV chargers, heat pumps, finished basements, hot tubs and major renovations can push an older service closer to its limit. If the service is already being disconnected, it may be practical to compare repair-only work with a service upgrade. Our guide to whether you should upgrade from 100-amp to 200-amp service explains the decision in plain terms.
Our visit starts outside. We look at the service drop path, mast alignment, weatherhead, attachment hardware, wall or roof penetration, meter area and any nearby tree, roof, siding or renovation work that may have caused the issue. Then we check inside at the service equipment where visible damage, water entry, flickering, tripping or insurance concerns suggest the force travelled into the panel area.
If the repair is straightforward and safe to quote from the site visit, we provide a free written estimate. If utility shutdown or ESA coordination is needed, we include that in the work plan. For service mast repair work, we arrange ESA permits when required and complete the necessary inspection process. We also clean up after the repair, including removed fittings, damaged mast parts and work debris.
Service mast repair is quoted in writing after a site visit. There is no honest flat price because the cost depends on access, roofline height, whether the mast is bent or fully failed, whether the weatherhead and service conductors are reusable, whether the meter base moved, whether the utility must disconnect, and whether the main panel or grounding needs correction.
If the repair turns into a service upgrade, published pricing applies. When a service mast repair is part of a 100A-to-200A panel upgrade in the GTA, the full job typically costs $3,200–$4,500 including the panel, labour, ESA permit, and inspection. If the mast work is tied to upgrading from a 60A fuse panel, expect $4,000–$6,000 because the service entrance and meter base usually have to be replaced as well.

A licensed electrical contractor repairs the customer-owned service entrance equipment, including the mast, weatherhead, attachment hardware and related wiring. The utility must handle utility-owned conductors and may need to disconnect power before work. City Power coordinates the electrical repair, ESA notification where required and utility steps when the service must be made safe before work.
Sometimes small inspection or planning work can be done without a shutdown, but many mast, weatherhead and attachment repairs require utility disconnection. If the mast is bent, conductors are strained, the weatherhead is damaged or the meter area has shifted, we plan the work with the utility so the repair is not performed around energized service conductors.
Service entrance work often requires an ESA notification and inspection. City Power is a Licensed Electrical Contractor, ECRA/ESA #7015314, and we permit work with the ESA where required. The inspection may cover mast support, weatherhead installation, conductor protection, grounding, bonding, the meter area and any panel or service entrance repairs tied to the damage.
Service mast repair is quoted in writing after a site visit because access, utility coordination, weatherhead condition, meter movement and panel damage all change the scope. If the damage leads to a 100A-to-200A panel upgrade, the GTA range is $3,200–$4,500 including the panel, labour, ESA permit and inspection.
