Do I need a permit for basement electrical work?
Yes. All basement wiring in Ontario requires an ESA notification and inspection, and the City building permit for your renovation will require the electrical to pass. We pull the ESA permit, schedule inspections, and coordinate with your contractor so drywall isn't delayed.
What electrical does a legal basement apartment need?
A code-compliant second unit needs interconnected smoke/CO detectors in both units, adequate panel capacity (often a sub-panel), proper egress lighting, and dedicated kitchen circuits. Separate metering is optional but popular with landlords. We handle the full package.
